Our brokers, Amber and Autumn, enjoyed the offerings of the Cordata Neighborhood in our video featuring a new neighborhood, a community garden, and Whatcom Community College.

Here is what the City of Bellingham has to say about the Cordata Neighborhood:

“Situated in the northern area of the city is The Cordata Neighborhood.  Bordered by Meridian Street to the east and West Bakerview Road to the south. It extends to the City limits to the north, west and southwest.

Formed in 2010 when the boundaries of the Meridian and Guide Meridian and Cordata Neighborhoods were redrawn is what makes up The Cordata Neighborhood. In order to acknowledge the area’s changing character, environment and demographics.

Also, leading to these changes included the increase in residential development and population. The presence of Whatcom Community College, the concentration of professional commercial, institutional and industrial uses along Cordata Parkway. As well as the area’s close proximity to one of Bellingham’s regional commercial areas within the adjacent Meridian Neighborhood.

Finally, The Cordata Neighborhood contains a variety of land use zoning designations. Most consisting of Public and Planned: Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Institutional. Cordata Business Park Planned Unit Development (PUD) and the City’s Land Use Development Code are helping guide the development in this area. These codes identifies the development and design standards needed to preserve and protect the character and qualities of the neighborhood.”
