Happy Valley is a great option whether you’re looking to settle down or want a comfortable place to reside in Bellingham.

In recent years, Happy Valley has become a popular location for student housing due to the growth of Western Washington University. Since the 1960s, there has been an increase in apartments built for student housing, which has replaced some single-family housing. The highest densities of apartments are located in the neighborhood’s north end, closest to the university. Meanwhile, much of the southern part of Happy Valley is zoned and developed for single-family residences.

Despite the growth and development, Happy Valley still has pockets of quiet, undeveloped areas where you can find owls, deer, great blue herons, and horses grazing. You can also enjoy the natural scenery and wildlife by walking through wetlands, forests, or meadows, or looking for fish in Padden Creek. The largest public natural area is the Connelly Creek Nature Area, which was established to preserve Connelly Creek, its associated wetlands, and the wildlife habitat they provide. The area is mostly forested, but it also has wet meadow habitat. Happy Valley Park on Donovan Avenue is a small, active neighborhood park with a playground, picnic shelter, and open field. The Connelly Creek Trail runs through the park and connects to Old Fairhaven Parkway south of Padden Creek.Homes For Sale, Bellingham WA
