Whatcom Falls Park is widely regarded as one of the top green spaces in Bellingham. It boasts miles of interurban trails, a playground, tennis courts, and a fish hatchery, making it a great destination for people of all ages.

The Whatcom Falls neighborhood is situated at the city’s eastern edge, south of Whatcom Creek, and is home to more than 2,000 Bellingham residents. Lakeway Drive runs through the neighborhood, separating Bayview Cemetery and Whatcom Falls Park from the residential areas located south of Lakeway. Most of the neighborhood’s development is residential. Large tracts of undeveloped land can be found in the southern and eastern parts of the neighborhood.

The publicly owned portion of the neighborhood includes Bayview Cemetery, Whatcom Falls Park, and Kulshan Middle School. The neighborhood also provides easy access to Bloedel-Donovan Park. The City and County collaborated to set aside 60 acres for future park and trailhead development at the end of Birch Street, known as “Lookout Mountain.”
